Submarine conceptual design

An interesting project, a challenging project and last but not least a time consuming project.
That needs to be completed within only 4 days!!

A client needed to present a new layout for a submarine, showing the basic layout and space within the submarine. A conceptual design, requiring basic dimensions , hull and frame calculations, without any detailing.

The hull shape had to be tested for its hydrodynamic performance and optimized where needed. The measured skin friction combined with the turbulent kinetic energy and visual swirling core region where used to examine the hulls resistance in the water at a high cruise speed of 20 knots.
