Buffer blocks

This project contains the fabrication and testing of a buffer block. This project is executed incorporation with a rubber design, supplier and manufacturer. The hardest part of designing a bufferblok is to obtain the right stress – strain curve. Rubber acts different than isotropic material. It needs to be stiff, strong and at the same time flexible enough to obtain irregularities. Before these buffer blocks can be implemented they need to be tested under compression (angle) and shear.
