Carbon monoxide concentration within the air of an underground parking lot

Carbon monoxide concentration within the air of an underground parking lot

Simulations are performed to see if there was enough ventilation in a parking lot. The carbon monoxide concentration in the air is measured and how much carbon monoxide is ventilated at the parking lot ventilation shaft. The following questions were answered: Are the ventilation openings located right? Are the ventilation openings large enough? What is the average concentration of carbon monoxide at the ventilation openings? How is the carbon monoxide distributed within the parking lot? And how high is the highest concentration? Submarine conceptual design

Submarine conceptual design

An interesting project, a challenging project and last but not least a time consuming project. That needs to be completed within only 4 days!! A client needed to present a new layout for a submarine, showing the basic layout and space within the submarine. A conceptual design, requiring basic dimensions , hull and frame calculations, without any detailing. The hull shape had to be tested for its hydrodynamic performance and optimized where needed. The measured skin friction combined with the turbulent kinetic energy and visual swirling core region where used to examine the hulls resistance in the water at a high cruise speed of 20 knots. Design and optimization of new racing wheels

Design and optimization of new racing wheels

A new line of racing wheels is about to be released for 2017. CAE Work was asked to optimize the weight of the wheels without compromising its strength. All the wheels are tested according 3 real world tests. The JWL testing (Rotary bending test, Radial load endurance test, Impact test). Due to a signed NDA, I am not able to give insight information, however I would like you to check out the new introduction of these amazing racing wheels. NiBrAl propeller

NiBrAl propeller

The design and stress test of a 4 bladed NiBrAl propeller. NiBrAl is a aluminium bronze material, it stands for Nickel, Bronze, Aluminum, not Nickel Broom and Aluminum as the ´Br´ would suggest. The propeller has been designed and tested up till 5000 RPM centrifugal force for material strength purposes and 5000 RPM in a water basin to see the water pressure on the blade at such high rotational speeds. These stresses could give a indication where the propeller could be optimized for strength purposes. Also the lift and drag characteristics of the current design are determined. Vibration in the propeller could be very dangerous. It is of importance to find the natural frequencies at which the propeller loses its structural integrity. 5 modal frequencies are found. Hydrofoil design

Hydrofoil design

In the surf industry there are always new developments. The hydrofoil is one of them. Not necessarily a new invention, however it is getting more developed and more people are picking it up, even more in the kite surf industry. A hydrofoil is generally a plane underwater that creates lift and pushes the surfer and its board out of the water. While doing that it reduces the total drag of the surfer, making it a smooth ride through the water. It’s like floating on clouds. This project is a collaboration between me and a very good friend. We both share the passion of surf and kite surf and it was about time to start a project within this scope. Some of the requirements are; -Low speed lift generation -Unstable lateral stability -Lightweight -Inexpensive Research 25% Engineering 20% Simulation...
